“Just another bump, dear. Hang on,” Polly, her mother, would glance at Bernice at the backseat. By now, Bernice had lied on the seat, her head resting on the cushion. Her red hair messy. Polly drove even more slowly at the upcoming bump, and the bump scratched the bottom of her car. “Damn…” Polly cursed under her breath.

Bernice decided to sit up, and opened the window, for some fresh air. Polly glanced at her beautiful daughter from the rear view mirror and continued driving.

“Mummy.”

“Yes, dear?” Polly waited through the silence.

“What’s Daddy like?” Bernice asked, looking at her mother. Polly’s grip on the sterring wheel tightened and then relaxed.

“What’s he like? Well, he’s tall, dark and handsome and…”

“But Mummy! That’s the exact sentence from any fairy tale storybook!” Bernice retorted in giggles, and her missing front teeth shown.

Polly couldn’t help it but laughed along and the vehicle jumped on another bump. “Because that’s what your father is. A fairytale.” Polly smiled, a hint of sadness in the curve of her lips.

Bernice had never seem to have meet her father since the day she was borned. It was always just her and her mother. Her father seemed to have started the faraway job right after Bernice was borned, and he had seldom come home to visit. He visits when Bernice was in school, or away for summer camp. It was always her mother who told her about her father’s visit, though less than annually. But for the past three years, he did not show up at all, which bothered Bernice. Polly was always there giving excuses to cure Bernice’s disappointment.

It was, Bernice’s wish, that made them both travel to meet the man in their family.

“It’s God, telling you He loves you,” says the mother of the child, as she knelt down beside her daughter, holding her close to her. Kissing her forehead, the mother whispered softly into the child’s ear. “God also says to remember that. That He loves you. And each one of us. All so dearly.”

The girl looked up to her mother’s face with such innocent gesture, that made her mother smile. “Really?” the little girl asked, her eyes grew wider. “If I remember God, will He remember me?”

“Yes, of course, my dear Bernice. Certainly, without fail, God will remember you.”

With that, Bernice was satisfied with her mother’s answers, and her mother pulled her away from the grass to the pavement. They both got into the red second-hand car that Bernice’s mother had bought in a car sale, so that they could travel to meet Bernice’s father. Her father lived away from the family due to work, and now they were all going to move to one place to live together happily.

Bernice’s mother, Polly, knew that her husband had a house across the borders, thus she was assured that she and her daughter had a place to stay. Polly wanted to give a surprise to her husband, that the whole family would be together from then on. Polly glanced to the backseat and noticed that Bernice was still watching the sunrise. She smiled to herself and proceeded to start the car.

But today, as he walked, he noticed a lot more couples,being attached to one another. Kissing. Hugging. Some even sprawl on the floor. Against the locker. Gasping. Tongue-tied. Groping. Almost to the point he might have seen some intercourse. But no, it is a public place. How could anyone do anything like that?

No one else was disturbed by the fact that everyone was being overly lovey-dovey.

Well, except…

Poe tighten her grip around my hand. I looked at her, to see what was the matter. She leaned on me. I heard her whisper.

“Why is everyone doing this?”

I shrugged.

“Why aren’t we like them?”

He said, ” Hmm, yesterday, why is everyone calling me cute eh?”

The he had the cheeky smile on his face.

The reaction I gave was : fits of laughter.

So the reason he asked this was because yesterday he met a bunch of my girlfriends who couldn’t help it but to announce that he is cute. Basically because he is pretty much a size of a 12 years old rather than his 22-going-to-be age. Funny isn’t it?

You know when you are suddenly added in a chatroom with lotsa people and with one person inviting everyone to add him in Friendster, you get the ??? on your head. It gets funnier when the person exclaimed that he had already decorated his profile page and wanted everyone to give him testi and comments…..

And you know you had a bit too much of early crack when you go and check your Friendster page, you actually typed www.friendstare.com and then ENTER.

And you know that the crack hadn’t dissapeared, when you laughed at yourself at that stupidity and retyped the url with: www.friendstair.com and then ENTER.

All thanks to the addiction from my dear Nao, and dear Izzu and dear Silv. =D I’ll go register for NaNo now, if it’s possible?

Had to get back to writing anyway, I have been off writing for so long I wonder I can still write. >_<
