why aren’t we like them?

Holding her hands, he walked along with his beloved girlfriend, Poe, across the hall, to his locker. As usual, Poe would have her books ready with her, and she had waited for him at the entrance. He wasn’t late. You are my man, she said.

But today, as he walked, he noticed a lot more couples,being attached to one another. Kissing. Hugging. Some even sprawl on the floor. Against the locker. Gasping. Tongue-tied. Groping. Almost to the point he might have seen some intercourse. But no, it is a public place. How could anyone do anything like that?

No one else was disturbed by the fact that everyone was being overly lovey-dovey.

Poe tighten her grip around my hand. I looked at her, to see what was the matter. She leaned on me. I heard her whisper.

“Why is everyone doing this?”

I shrugged.

“Why aren’t we like them?”
